Local-first default
Lifestream is designed so text moments can be captured locally on your device by default. Local Moment writing and local keyword Search are not intended to upload your moments by themselves.
Local data may be removed if you delete it, delete the app, clear app data, reset or lose the device, replace the device without transfer, or the operating system removes app data.
Local Search
Local Search is on-device keyword search over active local text moments. The current first-release scope does not include hosted AI Search, embeddings, semantic search, or search-query upload.
Deleted, empty, debug, hidden, or otherwise ineligible moments should be excluded from Search and from AI Reflection source selection.
AI Reflection
AI Reflection is optional and user-requested. It does not run on first launch, in the background, or automatically when enough moments exist.
Selected recent local text may leave the device only after you start AI Reflection, see the hosted-processing explanation, sign in if needed, return to a no-silent-send review state, and tap the final start action.
AI Reflection uses Lifestream's hosted backend and an approved AI provider. The iOS app should not contain provider keys or call the provider directly.
Lifestream does not use your moments, prompts, or AI reflection outputs to train public AI models, and does not opt in to provider model training using user content. Provider retention for service operation, safety, abuse monitoring, security, legal compliance, or application state may still apply. Lifestream does not claim zero retention unless the exact provider controls prove it.
AI account and deletion request
Moment and local Search do not require an account. AI Reflection may require sign-in only when you actively start the hosted AI flow.
The AI account exists for AI request ownership, quota/security, and account deletion. The first-release app is expected to provide an in-app account deletion request path after AI sign-in.
Account deletion requests start a 14-day cooling period. After that period ends, primary account-backed cloud data should be deleted within 7 days, and encrypted backups should expire within 30 days.
Local on-device moments remain separate from the AI account deletion request unless you separately delete local data on the device.
Not part of this first release
This first-release scope does not include Cloud Sync, AI Memory, AI Search, media AI, subscriptions, in-app purchases, analytics, diagnostics SDKs, or an in-app support form.
If a later release adds paid Cloud Sync or AI access, subscription cancellation and cloud-data grace periods must be described separately before that release ships.
